Director of Supply Chain

Skyline Furniture is seeking a highly experienced Director of Supply Chain responsible for overseeing the company's end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory planning, demand forecasting, logistics, and supplier management. This role develops and executes strategies to ensure reliable material supply, optimize inventory investment, and support efficient manufacturing operations.
Reporting directly to the executive team, this role has full responsibility to lead the purchasing and inventory teams, partner closely with production and finance leadership, and implement systems and processes that improve forecasting accuracy, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities
Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the company's purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain planning functions
- Develop long-term sourcing and supply chain strategies that support company growth and operational efficiency
- Manage and mentor purchasing and inventory teams, establishing clear processes, KPIs, and accountability
- Collaborate with executive leadership on supply chain strategy, risk management, and cost optimization initiatives
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Oversee sourcing and procurement of raw materials, fabrics, hardware, foam, frames, and other production inputs
- Develop and manage key supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, terms, and long-term agreements
- Evaluate supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery reliability, and responsiveness
- Identify opportunities to diversify sourcing and mitigate supply chain risks
Inventory Planning & Forecasting
- Oversee inventory strategy, including planning, replenishment, safety stock levels, and inventory turnover targets
- Lead forecasting and demand planning processes in coordination with sales, production, and finance teams
- Develop strategies to reduce excess inventory, improve inventory turns, and manage slow-moving or aged stock
- Monitor inventory KPIs and implement processes to maintain accuracy and visibility across systems
Operations & Logistics
- Oversee inbound logistics, freight, and warehouse coordination to ensure timely material availability
- Partner with production teams to align purchasing and inventory levels with manufacturing schedules
- Develop processes that improve final material flow, reduce lead times, and increase operational efficiency
Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure accurate data management with ERP and inventory management systems
- Develop operational reporting related to purchasing performance, inventory levels, forecast accuracy, and supply chain costs
- Lead supply chain process improvements and system implementations when necessary
- Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives across procurement, logistics, and inventory management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations within a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading purchasing, planning, and inventory management teams
- Strong background in supplier negotiation, inventory optimization, and demand forecasting
- Experience implementing or managing ERP systems and supply chain planning tools
- Strong analytical, financial, and operational problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Preferred
- Experience in furniture manufacturing or related consumer goods industries
- Experience working with global suppliers or international sourcing
